'Boil Water' Advisory Lifted For Last Two Customers In Los Altos

Utility officials lifted a boil water alert Saturday afternoon for two customers of Los Altos, according to the California Water Service.

The customers on Cantata Way and O’Keefe Lane resumed normal water use after utility workers treated and tested the main serving them, Cal Water spokeswoman Yvonne Kingman said. After the treatment, tests showed no presence of total coliform, she said.

The customers were the last of more than 800 Cal Water customers in the South El Monte area of Los Altos to have normal water service restored, according to Cal Water.

The two customers had been living out of a hotel during the past week as utility workers performed the treatment and tests, Cal Water officials said. Multiple rounds of testing were done to confirm that treatment was successful, according to Cal Water.

The utility’s district manager Ron Richardson said in a statement that even though officials have lifted the alert, Cal Water will be working with the California Division of Drinking Water to prevent another occurrence. Kingman said utility officials lifted a separate boil water alert July 31 for the Seven Acres area of Los Altos.

Cal Water officials said the company will reimburse customers who used bottled water during the alert when customers provide receipts. Customers can bring their receipts to the Cal Water Customer Center at 949 B Street in Los Altos or mail them to Chris Wilson at the same address.
