Bing Concert Hall

The Stanford Summer Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Summer Chorus will perform "Lobgesang" (Hymn of Praise), Felix Mendelssohn's epic "symphony-cantata", on July 31 and August 1 in Bing Concert Hall. Considered one of Mendelssohn's greatest works, it was the first symphony after Beethoven's 9th to combine orchestra and chorus. The soloists are sopranos Esther Tonea and Jennie Yukyung Byun and tenor Chance Jonas-O'Toole. Esther is a former Adler Fellow at SF Opera and winner of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Chance Jonas-O'Toole, a former member of the Merola Program at SF Opera, sang with Deutsche Oper Berlin for the past two seasons and is now back singing with SF Opera. Jennie Yukyung Byun is a prominent soprano soloist living the Bay Area. Conductor Paul Phillips is the Gretchen B. Kimball Director of Orchestra Studies at Stanford, where he also directs the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Philharmonia. The program opens with an overture by the remarkable British opera composer Ethel Smyth and a choral work, "Heavenly Home", arranged by Shawn Kirchner and conducted by Rafael Ornes.

Our 10 AM Sunday Worship brings us together in person and streaming on YouTube to celebrate our connection to the Holy and our belonging to each other. We blend scripture, prayer, music, and positive, inspirational, intelligent messages to sustain us on our faith journey. The service lasts about an hour, with fellowship afterward. Please join us!

Formed in 2024 by current members Hilary Nelson, Thomas Hatcher, and Ilan Ladabaum, TRC's sound is rooted in strong instrumentals, tight vocal harmonies and original songwriting.

The Mid-Peninsula Widow and Widowers Association (<a href="https://www.mpwwa1.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.mpwwa1.org</a>)&nbsp;is a 501(c)(3)&nbsp;non-profit, non-sectarian organization whose membership is comprised exclusively of widows and widowers.&nbsp;The group organizes activities for its members so they can stay engaged with others doing fun, social activities after the passing of their spouse. Group activities include: meals at local restaurants; games including Bocce Ball, Bowling, Card Games; weekly business meetings in Los Altos often followed by a speaker and entertainment; picnic and more.
The group has General Meetings on the first&nbsp;Tuesday of every month from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm. and the following Tuesday&nbsp;nights from 7:30--9:00 pm.&nbsp; Visitors are welcome to join us, at no charge, and should arrive 30 minutes before the meeting starts.&nbsp;

Viewpoints Gallery is pleased to present "Local Light," a luminous new collection of pastels by local artist Stacey Nussbaum, which explores the landscapes and coastline from the San Francisco Bay Area down through Big Sur. With this collection, Stacey captures the light of early mornings and afternoon golden hours as it plays across the terrain — backlighting flower petals, filtering through coastal fog, flashing between the trees to set a patch of grasses aglow. Stacey's hope is that these works will spark each viewer’s own special memories of times, places, and connections with nature and light. Her mastery of pastel shines throughout the collection, transforming familiar scenes into moments of wonder. 
Stacey is an award-winning pastelist with paintings in private collections across the US and overseas. In addition to pastels, Stacey has recently taken up oils, and some of her latest works in oil are included in this show. Stacey studied art and social work at San Jose State University. She enjoys a full life with her painting practice, her career as a Medical Social Worker, and being a mom to college-aged kids.

Here's how it will work: 
<ul><li>Students using "Standard Time" should plan for about 2.5-3.0 hours of testing time</li><li>Students with an extended time accommodation will be prompted to choose the relevant time and should plan for either 1.5 or 2.0 x standard time</li><li>Students will be sent a link to access an individualized assessment 24 hours before test time.</li><li>Students are allowed to have scratch paper and a calculator will be available on screen for the math section</li><li>A detailed score report viewable immediately upon test completion </li><li>receive instructions on how to schedule the review on the Monday after the test.</li></ul>

Admission is free but donations of backpacks (not red or blue please) and school supplies are most welcome. Supplies will benefit students of the John Muir School District.
