The Stanford Summer Symphony, conducted by Paul Phillips, presents a rich and uplifting program at Bing Concert Hall.

The evening begins with Gioachino Rossini’s spirited Overture to La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie), followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s lyrical Romances for Violin and Orchestra, Opp. 50 & 40, featuring violin soloist Sean Mori. Described by SF Classical Voice as “disarmingly talented,” Mori has performed internationally across Europe, Asia, and the United States. A winner of the 2024 Stanford Concerto Competition, he holds degrees in mathematics and computer science from Stanford and studied with Ian Swensen and Robin Sharp.

Ottorino Respighi’s evocative Fontane di Roma (Fountains of Rome) brings the landscapes of Italy to life, and the concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.
