Viewpoints Gallery is pleased to present "Local Light," a luminous new collection of pastels by local artist Stacey Nussbaum, which explores the landscapes and coastline from the San Francisco Bay Area down through Big Sur. With this collection, Stacey captures the light of early mornings and afternoon golden hours as it plays across the terrain — backlighting flower petals, filtering through coastal fog, flashing between the trees to set a patch of grasses aglow. Stacey's hope is that these works will spark each viewer’s own special memories of times, places, and connections with nature and light. Her mastery of pastel shines throughout the collection, transforming familiar scenes into moments of wonder.
Stacey is an award-winning pastelist with paintings in private collections across the US and overseas. In addition to pastels, Stacey has recently taken up oils, and some of her latest works in oil are included in this show. Stacey studied art and social work at San Jose State University. She enjoys a full life with her painting practice, her career as a Medical Social Worker, and being a mom to college-aged kids.
