The Declaration of Independence famously states that “All men are created equal.” What did those words mean when they were written, and what do they mean today? Los Altos History Museum explores these questions in “Not Quite Created Equal? Who Got Left Out of the Declaration of Independence,” featuring historian and Stanford University professor Caroline Winterer on Wednesday, October 21, from 5:30 – 7 pm.

Winterer is the William Robertson Coe Professor of History and American Studies and Professor by courtesy of Classics at Stanford University. She specializes in American history before 1900, especially the history of ideas and science. She is the author of five books.

The program will be held simultaneously in person at Los Altos History Museum and via Zoom. Admission is $15 per person, free for members. Register at losaltoshistory.org/NotQuiteEqual.
