Dreaming - Travel in Mind

Plan ahead. Dream of where you would like to go - time and money no problem

Dreaming – Travel in Mind

The other morning I put on two of my favorite music pieces – Ravel’s Bolero and the Grand Canyon Suite – made myself a pot of tea, and sat with a notebook and began to dream. Where would I like to go in 2022, if circumstances permitted.

Of course, I’ve been blessed, and lucky enough to have been to 130 countries many times, but if I only had one more chance to go somewhere, what would be on my list. My list might not be the same as most people, since I am of Scottish background, a gardener, and love to hike but I am sharing my thoughts with you as it might cheer you up to dream like I did on what you can do in the future, whatever year that might be. I think year 2021 is too uncertain at present, so I am dreaming for 2022. Of course, travel will not be the same as it was, and we will have to wait and see what changes the future brings us.

No.l on my list has to be the Chelsea Flower Show in London run by the Royal Horticultural Society since 1862, for five days beginning of May each year. I am an avid gardener, and get a lot of pleasure from seeing the magnificent displays. www.RHS.ChelseaFlowerShow.com

Hotels are difficult to get when the show is on, and I just heard from a friend and colleague, the General Manager of the Rubens Hotel, which is my favorite place to stay near Buckingham Palace and their afternoon tea is something to dream about. Malcolm Hendry told me that the hotel has been closed due to the virus and you can't go wrong staying at one of the Red Carnation Hotels, run by a family who have wonderful staff.www.rubenshotel.com. My clients have always raved about their stay at one of the RC hotels in London.www.redcarnationhotels.com

I would have my sister, who is a retired University Professor from Cambridge join me as she usually does on my visits to London so we can shop, go to the theater, and she always has a long list of what is worth seeing in the exhibits on in town. We have our favorite restaurants to go to and never stop talking. She told me at our Zoom meeting (we chat via telephone and computer)

this week that I did not look well, and needed to take better care of myself. I need a trip.......

No.2 Would be the Royal Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, usually the beginning of August each year. People come from all over the world to attend this event. You have to like bagpipes and bands to enjoy this show. Bands from all over the British Commonwealth consider it an honor to be invited to play at this event.www.Edintatoo.com. I would stay at the Balmoral Hotel, www.roccofortehotels.com/balmoral

No.3 New Zealand, South Island, Routeburn Track, 4 night 3 day walk thru the most magnificent scenery in the world. I would spend a few days at my favorite lodges, and just enjoy the cleanest air in the world. www.doc.govt.nz/fiordland-national parks/thing.. -to-do/tracks/routeburn.track I would go on the TransAlpine train - Christchurch to Arthurs Pass - to my favorite wilderness lodge for a few days. www.wildernesslodge.co.nz/arthurspasswildernesslodge.com

No. 4 Hawaii. I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon 52 years ago and every year for our anniversary, we have always gone back. This year, we couldn’t go and decided that when we can, we will take an extra long trip to make up for what we lost. www.maunakeabeachhotel.com on the big island of Hawaii. I can dream of the sunset, sipping a Mai tai and wearing a lovely flower lei around my neck. Happy memories. Aloha

Of course, I cant do them all, but at least when the right time comes, I can put on some music,

sit with a pot of tea and dream.

Cheerio, stay safe
