Energy Efficiency Pays Off for MVLA Schools
The District received a rebate check in October for almost $24,000.

When Mountain View Los Altos School District was planning 24 new classrooms, energy efficiency went right into the design process. Features include advanced day lighting and occupancy controls, motorized window blinds, upgraded wall and ceiling insulation, integrated energy management systems and solar panels.
Those design features resulted in a major rebate from PG&E. The public utility presented the school district with a check for $23,844.
The district also announced that its photovoltaic solar canopy projects, completed in 2011, have generated even more electricity than expected, resulting in over $800,000 in rebates from the California Solar Initiative.
