German Shepherd "Rescued" in Los Altos Hills Needs Help
Dog Rescue Organization Needed for German Shepherd Trapped by Palo Alto Animal Services after roaming the hills for weeks.
On August 22, 2016 it was first reported on our Next Door Neighborhood Network that a German Shepherd was roaming the hills along Page Mill Road near Skyline in the upper Los Altos Hills area. Sightings were reported on Next Door for the next 10 days and residents noted he had been spotted even before August 22. He apparently was raiding garbage cans and scavenging what he could to eat from the land. On September 1 Palo Alto Animal Services (PAAS) trapped him.
Unfortunately he bit the police officer and apparently showed other signs of aggression while at PAAS so was deemed a risk to the public. I'm sure he is scared and probably has had a bad human experience in the past which has caused the behavior issue. This means that he will be euthanized unless a rescue organization comes forward to take him and has experience and the proper facility for this type of behavior issue.
There has been a tremendous outpouring of concern and support for the dog among residents in Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto hills, Portola Valley, Woodside, La Honda and the skyline area above Page Mill Road who would like this dog to be given a chance. There are many who will pitch in for relocation fees and a donation to an organization that will take him.
