The Los Altos City Council invites Los Altos residents to apply for appointment to open seats on several Commissions and Committees.

Each Commission and Committee contributes knowledge and expertise that helps guide and inform decisions made by the City Council.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission advises City Council on bicycle and pedestrian issues, recommends updates to the City’s Bicycle Transportation Plan and identifies and prioritizes projects that will improve bicycle and pedestrian safety and access within Los Altos. (Four positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Environmental Commission

The Environmental Commission advises City Council on issues that affect the natural and built environment in the City and region. (Five positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Historical Commission

The Historical Commission advises City Council on historical properties including maintaining the Historical Resources Inventory. (Four positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Library Commission

The Library Commission advises City Council on all matters relating to the City Library.(One position with a term expiring in February 2017; Two positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Parks and Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission advises City Council on all matters pertaining to parks and public recreation. (Three positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Public Arts Commission

The Public Arts Commission advises City Council on all matters pertaining to public arts programs sponsored by the City including the Outdoor Sculpture Loan program. (Three positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Senior Commission

The Senior Commission advises Los Altos and Los Altos Hills City Councils on all matters pertaining to seniors. (Four positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Joint Community Volunteer Service Awards Committee

The Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Joint Community Volunteer Service Awards Committee selects community members to be recognized for their volunteer service and organizes a luncheon in their honor each December. (Three positions with terms expiring in February 2019)

Application Process

Applicants must be residents of the City of Los Altos to be considered for an appointment.

Applications are due by Friday, January 30, 2015. Interviews tentatively scheduled forTuesday, February 3, 2015 and Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Applications can be picked-up at Los Altos City Hall, downloaded as a PDF, or submitted online. Submit completed applications to the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall.
