JC Penney Collecting Money for the USO

Round up your purchase to the next dollar--and donate the difference.

Written by Bea Karnes

Your holiday gift purchases at JC Penney can help the USO. All you have to do is ask the clerk to round-up your purchase to the nearest dollar. The difference is given to the USO through jcp cares.

Penney’s ‘jcp cares’ program selects a different charity each month to receive donations. This month, the USO was chosen.

"USO Bay Area operates three USO centers in Northern California that are collectively visited nearly 50,000 times a year," according to USO Bay Area Director Jeff Herndon. "We also extend the USO's morale-enhancing programs to service members and their family stationed or living in 50 California counties. In 2012, USO Bay Area programs support went to another 14,000 troops and family members at 21 different locations."

A ticker on Penney's website shows how much has been donated so far.
