Jeremy Lin Trademark in China Taken

A rude surprise: Just like Michael Jordan's Chinese name, and Apple's iPad, Lin's name is already trademarked in China.

Long before Jeremy Lin became an NBA sensation, a Chinese ball and equipment maker trademarked his name in China, Reuters reporter Benjamin Kang Lim reports

And Lin does not have the advantage, as with  in the United States. Lin and Nike, with whom he just signed, could be in for the same headaches that Michael Jordan and Apple are finding in the Chinese trademark system described as "a minefield of murky rules and opportunistic squatters." The legal representative of Wuxi Risheng Sports Utility Co., told Reuters that it had heard about interest in the trademark, which has Lin's name in Chinese, and "Jeremy S.H.L." in English, the initials of his transliterated name, "Shu-How Lin."
