Merry Christmas and Thank You
I was delighted to get a telephone call from a lady in New York who told me she was 94 and my travel article was the first thing she read each week since it brought back such happy memories . She is unable to travel now, but said she went on her honeymoon to the Netherlands, and my article on Tulips and Windmills made her cry with happiness. We had a nice chat and I thanked her for taking the time to ring me. I gave her my Scottish toast which made her chuckle. Hope it does the same to you:

Who dipped its tail in red hot grease,
And so my friends please raise your glass

To the only mouse with the French fried ass.
I recently learned of an elderly lady who is in hospice care with cancer who used to work for me years ago. I have been visiting her each week, and since she cant read, or watch the television, it’s a long day for her. The nurse told me she is a lonely lady, and so each week I ask her to choose a destination she would like to remember. I tell her about the country, its culture, music, food, history, what I bought as a souvenir, and it is thirty minutes of happier times for her. It’s a few hours of my time since it’s quite a drive to get to her, but I feel that is my act of kindness to someone in need of a hug and cheering up, especially at this special time of the year. I am taking her today a bulb I bought in Holland, which I planted in a little jar and hope she is alive to see it bloom on her window sill.
Your health is so important and we don’t know what God holds in store for us. My advice is to travel while you are able, and its always good to dream, even if you cant afford to have a bucket list.
I appreciate all your comments and good wishes. May the New Year be a healthy and prosperous one for you. Remember to dream about where you would like to go in the future I told my friend to each night dream of a beach we both love in Hawaii, Napili Kai, and watching the waves come on the shore is a nice way to drift into sleep.
