New Board Member for Friends of Los Altos

He's been a Los Altos resident for more than 30 years.

Friends of Los Altos, Inc. (FOLA), a non-profit, non-partisan, volunteer-run organization comprised of City of Los Altos residents, announced Monday that Los Altos Neighborhood Network (LANN) co-founder and Board of Directors member Ken Lorell has been elected to its Board of Directors. In addition, LANN Board of Directors members Jon Baer and Bill Crook, and LANN frequent contributor David Luskin, have been appointed as Advisors.


Ken Lorell has lived with his family in Los Altos for over 30 years. He came to the Bay Area in 1965 from Southern California to attend school and after graduation decided to stay. Ken retired as a Lockheed Martin Senior Fellow in 2011 following a career as a research engineer, first at the NASA Ames Research Center and for 30 years at the Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center in Palo Alto. He currently serves on the Los Altos Planning and Transportation Commission, where he has reviewed both residential and commercial/ downtown projects and planning proposals. Ken also serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Altos Mediation Program and was a founder of the Los Altos Neighborhood Network. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Harvey Mudd College, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Sciences from Stanford University.

The Friends of Los Altos Board of Directors also announced that it has appointed three new Advisors. Los Altos Neighborhood Network Board of Directors members Jon Baer and Bill Crook, and frequent LANN contributor David Luskin, join other respected community leaders with in-depth expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including Eric Lutkin, Pradeep Parmar, Buffy Poon, Bob Reed, Duane Roberts, Denise Welsh, and Andy Wong.

I’m also delighted that Los Altos Neighborhood Network Board of Directors members Jon Baer and Bill Crook, and LANN frequent contributor David Luskin, have joined our Advisors to add their perspective on issues that directly affect City of Los Altos residents.”
