Eastbound Foothill Expressway between St. Joseph Avenue and Loyola Drive was closed for about five and a half hours, Langone said.

Traffic investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly before the crash, since Foothill Expressway is a major thoroughfare in the city that observes moderate traffic
during the noon hour, Langone said.
