Seasonal Sensations

We have hand selected a few destinations that flawlessly embody each season's splendor

Whether watching summer’s rays reflect off a tranquil river or finding ways to play on snow packed peaks, nature’s joy is on display year round. We have hand selected a few destinations that flawlessly embody each season’s splendor along with a few active ways to experience them fully.

Harvest Time in Tuscany
Italy is always in the top three destinations where people want to visit. As autumn arrives in Tuscany, the famed region becomes awash in rich gold and russet with plump purple grapes veritably bursting off the vines. During September and October, epicurean’s reap the rewards of vendemmia, the grape harvest as well as the discoveries sniffed out by Lagotto retrievers, the regions coveted white truffles. Get the full flavor of the season on a six day bike holiday, one of the new series of gourmand themed journeys. Cooking classes with local chefs are very popular .

Winter Adventure
Seeing white in Yellowstone is breathtaking. With the first snowball, Yellowstone National Park turns into the very definition of winter wonderland. Acclaimed PBS filmmaker Ken Burns calls Yellowstone “Gods Laboratory” and during winter, nature’s alchemy transforms the park’s cascading waterfalls into veils of ice, while its 300 geysers, more than New Zealand and Iceland combined, send bursts of steam into the chilly air. There is an excellent nine day tour that takes small groups into the park, go snowshoeing, or cross country skiing, watch for bison, wolves and other creatures which are easy to spot. I love going on a sled in the National Elk Refuge. This is an exciting eight night trip.

Spring Adventure to Holland
The Dutch planted their first tulip bulbs in 1500. Spring time is a fantastic time to visit the Netherlands. The best time to go is in April and May when the tulips, daffodils, iris, narcissi and hyacinths are out. You can go on a six day biking holiday, going past 19 windmills, see Keukenhof Gardens , the world’s largest flower park, flat country all the way.

Summer Adventure on the Danube

This is Europe’s second longest river and the 1780 mile waterway meanders through four capital cities and takes you to the doorstep of UNESCO World Heritage sites like the imposing Durnstein Castle, stunning Melk Abbey and the Holy Roman Empire town of Nuremberg. This is an unusual eight day trip on a river boat, while cycling during the day through the black forest, and other scenic parts putting two wonderful experiences together.
