Tips from Public Led to Arrests of Teens in Downtown Burglaries

Two teenage boys suspected of burglarizing almost a dozen downtown businesses in Los Altos last week have been arrested, police said Tuesday.
The boys, ages 15 and 17, were arrested after police sought the public’s assistance Monday by releasing photos and surveillance video footage of the suspects.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects and arrested them through tips from the public, police said.

Three of the burglaries happened late at night on Nov. 15 when they allegedly forced their way through the rear doors of the businesses, then stole cash and small food items, according to police.
Eight burglaries and an attempted burglary at other downtown businesses happened Friday in a similar fashion to the earlier ones, police said.

The suspects were issued citations and released to their parents, according to police. Their names will not be released because they are minors.
The case will be forwarded to Santa Clara County Juvenile Probation Services, police said.
