An alert was sent to surrounding law enforcement agencies and the San Francisco Police Department located and detained the three for Los Altos detectives. Stolen property that included jewelry and a firearm taken in the Los Altos burglary were located by San Francisco PD, police said, along with additional stolen property recovered by Los Altos detectives at a San Francisco pawn shop.
At the time of arrest, Huff was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon; Mandigo was on felony probation for possession of an assault weapon; and Peterson was on felony probation for possession of a controlled substance for sale, police said. All three were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for suspicion of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of stolen property and violating the terms of their probation/parole. Mandigo was booked with the additional charges of allegedly possessing a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Los Altos Police Department would like to remind the public to be vigilant in:
1. Reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods (i.e. any individuals exhibiting behavior consistent with “casing” their neighborhood, aggressive solicitors, suspicious vehicles not known to the neighborhood, etc.). When calling, the public is asked to articulate specific observations, which would substantiate their suspicions.
2. Securing their homes: There are a variety of preventative measures community members can take to secure their homes and deter criminal activity. Some of these techniques include installing burglar alarms, locking perimeter gates and access points, installing exterior motion lights, and video surveillance systems.
Any residents interested in receiving a free home security inspection are asked to contact Community Service Officer Josh Cottrell at (650) 947-2647.
