Whole Foods Recalls Cheese for Listeria Contamination

Listeria can cause serious health problems or death. Codes and product labels included.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of Trois Comtois Morbier cheese by Whole Foods Market because it could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Infections can be fatal in young children, the elderly or people with weakened immune systems. It has also been linked to miscarriages and stillbirths.

Here in Northern California, the recalled cheese was sold in cut wedges under the name Morbier Les Trois Comtois. The PLU is 293608. The ā€œBest Buyā€ date doesn’t matter—all Morbier Les Trois Comtois cheese has been recalled.

Whole Foods recommends throwing away the cheese immediately. Take your receipt to the store for a full refund.
