Your travel specialist on: Wonderful Wandering

Adventures unfold when you take a stroll in Europe's cities

Adventures unfold when you take a stroll in some of Europe’s most walkable cities. I have been hundreds of times to Europe, and three of my favorite cities are Budapest, Rome, and Copenhagen no matter the time of year. I have been to many World Travel Industry meetings and always take a few extra days to wander on my own.

If this is your first visit to one of these cities, then I definitely would recommend you take a city tour, and a river cruise if you are in Budapest. If you try and take a tour spare of the moment, especially in Rome , you will wait a long time in a queue without a prior reservation. Why waste your time, so it is worth having your options planned and booked by a travel professional who has the right connections.

We can do air reservations, transfers, and hotel bookings helping you save thousands of dollars because of the buying power we have thru our being part of the Signature Travel Network which does nine billion in sales. No one should leave home without travel insurance, which we can take care of also. No matter which city you go to in Europe, getting a free breakfast every day, plus dining credit, a room upgrade, and early check in late check out is not to be passed up.

Budapest is bisected by the Danube River, charming Budapest offers two distinct experiences. In sloping Buda, hike up Gellert Hill for a panoramic view of the river where you will greet Hungary’s Statue of Liberty and view the Citadel’s impressive ramparts. Flat terrain defines Pest, as you meander from riverside restaurants and the Gothic Revival style parliament facing the embankment to the neo-renaissance opera house in the heart of the city. Two very different sides to a very historic city. I recently took a river boat cruise on Uniworld, which was a great experience, and had a few extra days at the end of the trip. I also buy a tin of Paprika spice when I am there. This is supposed to be the best there is.

Rome is a major metropolis, its historic core encompasses several essential sites within easy walking distance. Wander the crumbling Colosseum and step among the jumbled columns of the Roman Forum before climbing to the historic grounds of Palatine Hill. Modern Rome’s bustling cafes and shops entice as you find your way toward the Spanish Steps. Toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain to wish for a magical return to the Eternal City. I recommend you avoid August if you can. It is the hottest time of the year and the Italians go on holiday themselves and you will find that many small shops and cafes are closed. I always make a point to buy shoes and a handbag when in Italy. A fantastic selection you wont find anywhere else and at a great price. I took a group of ladies on a tour a few years ago and we had a problem with fitting our luggage on the bus since all twenty of us bought so much stuff we had to buy another suitcase to carry our loot in.

Copenhagen is a wonderful place., Compact layout and inspired architecture make this city a model among the world’s most walkable cities. Start in bustling Town Hall Square and peer into the famed Tivoli Gardens amusement park before making your way along the city’s pedestrian friendly main artery, Stroget. Pause for a beer that is best enjoyed in the Nyhavn harbor district with its brightly colored villas as you breathe in the fresh sea air. Wonderful shopping, and lots of little cafes to stop at. Spending an evening at the Tivoli is so much fun, great entertainment, wonderful restaurants, and
