1 Dead After Collision In San Jose On Highway 85: Updated
One person has died on northbound state Highway 85 near the state Highway 17 connector in San Jose early Monday morning.

SAN JOSE - A female pedestrian was fatally struck this morning on a ramp connecting two highways near the San Jose, Campbell and Los Gatos borders, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was first reported at 5:09 a.m. on the connector ramp from northbound state Highway 85 to northbound state Highway 17, CHP officials said.

Just prior to the fatal incident, CHP officers received reports of a female pedestrian walking along northbound Highway 85 with a backpack and flashlight, according to CHP Officer Ross Lee.
The pedestrian was then struck by a car, just before the connector ramp.

A second car then struck the victim, bringing her body onto the connector ramp, Lee said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 5:52 a.m. and the connector ramp was closed for nearly three hours as the CHP investigated the fatal incident.
The two cars that struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation, according to Lee.
The CHP is currently working to positively identify the victim.
