KP Santa Clara hospital, Behavioral Health Center, on prestigious Joint Commission list with 14 other Kaiser Permanente facilities

Kaiser Permanente’s Behavioral Health Center in Santa Clara, and the Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Hospital, were both named a “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures,” an annual national recognition awarded to hospitals for outstanding quality and safety.
Twelve other Kaiser Permanente hospitals in California and Hawaii were also honored by the Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health organizations in the United States. “Top Performer” status is awarded for exemplary care in 10 conditions, including heart attack, stroke, surgery, and inpatient psychiatric services.
“Kaiser Permanente has a sustained focus on delivering the highest quality mental health care to our members and this recognition underscores our continuous efforts to provide the best care possible,” said Dr. Don Mordecai, Director of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Services for Kaiser Permanente Northern California.
The Behavioral Health Center at Santa Clara is a short-term inpatient psychiatric facility for 24 patients and a 6-patient crisis stabilization unit. The 24,000 square foot one-story secure building was completed five years ago, and is state-of-the-art with natural light, soothing colors, and an interior calming garden, surrounded by group rooms, , a gym, and an art room.
“We are very proud of the Behavioral Health Center and the great work it does for Kaiser Permanente members,” said Chris Boyd, Senior Vice President and area manager of the medical center, “And the “Top Performer” award for Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara hospital is also a tribute to the daily work of our doctors, nurses, and staff to provide high-quality and safe care for our patients.”
Boyd pointed out the medical center was recognized for outstanding use of evidence-based clinical processes that improved care for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, stroke, perinatal care, and deep vein clots, usually in the legs.
Other Northern California Kaiser Permanente hospitals honored are Redwood City, Roseville, Sacramento, South Sacramento, and South San Francisco.
