Arson Investigators Search Los Gatos Fire Site: Report

Investigators are searching for bodies and signs of foul play at the site of a fire that burned a vacant 50,000 commercial building.

LOS GATOS, CA — Arson investigators and canines are searching for bodies and signs of foul play at the site of a four-alarm fire that burned a vacant 50,000-square-foot commercial property in Los Gatos, The Los Gatan reported.

So far, nothing has been found, Capt. Jason Stockman of the Santa Clara County Fire Department told The Los Gatan. “We’ve certainly had some moments where we got concerned …. no hits so far,” he said.

The fire broke out the morning of Friday, March 18 at the three-story building at the intersection of Knowles Drive and Dell Avenue, on the northern border of Los Gatos near Campbell, Patch reported. Smoke was visible throughout the Bay Area and several areas in Campbell and Los Gatos were placed under an advisory due to smoke and poor air quality, the Santa Clara County Fire Department reported.

Stockman told The Los Gatan that the fire was contained by about 5 p.m. Friday, but continued to smolder throughout the weekend. Stockman also said that Dollinger Properties, the owner of the property, is cooperating with the investigation.
