Baby Survives After Pregnant Mom Killed In Crash: San Jose Police

The 21-year-old died after she was involved in a crash with a stolen car, according to police, who said two people fled the scene.

SAN JOSE, CA — A pregnant woman died but her baby survived after a crash involving a stolen car Tuesday in San Jose, police said.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old April Marie Zoglauer of San Jose by the Santa Clara County coroner’s office.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the area of Blossom Hill Road and Winfield Boulevard, where Zoglauer's eastbound 2008 Nissan was struck by a southbound 2013 Hyundai that was determined to be stolen, according to police.

Two males fled the Hyundai on foot after the collision, police said. Zoglauer was taken to a hospital where she died, according to police, who said emergency surgery was performed and her baby was delivered but remains in critical condition.
