Bodacious Beauty Benefit for Bobby
A special 'Guys Night Out' at Romantiques Lingerie and Clothing Boutique raises money for Bob Kaufman's medical expenses.
Bob Kaufman's Los Gatos High School buddies will do anything to help his cause. Last Thursday, they arrived in droves and subjected themselves to scantily clad models at a “Guys Only Valentine's Day Party” fundraiser at boutique.
The event was auctioned off at an earlier “Bocce 4 Bobby” fundraiser at to help Bob, who is battling an incurable form of brain cancer, cover his mounting medical expenses.
The timing for the event couldn’t have been better. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the boys got busy selecting gifts for their sweethearts. Between sips of “BK’s Wildcat Red” (a special wine created by Bob's buddy, Scott Ratcliff), they perused the racks of baby doll negligees and strappy bustiers, stocked up on cheeky Hanky Panky boy shorts, and tried hard not to ogle the gorgeous models, Ashley and Greta.

An hour into the party, the guest of honor arrived, which helped make a great night even more magical. “I didn't know until the last moment if Bob would be able make it,” said Romantiques owner and Bob's LGHS classmate, Susan Testa. “It meant so much. I love Bob and his family.”
Bob stayed only for a short time but seemed to enjoy himself, meeting the models and shopping for something special for his Valentine, the lovely Kelly Kaufman.

Since it was mostly a guys-only night, I hung in the corner watching and dousing myself with the Kai perfume testers. The depth of affection these men felt for Bob was touching. His buddies dug deep, because they knew the evening was benefiting their friend and his family. Between tickets, wine and lingerie sales, the evening raised $2,000.
There were lots of sweet and funny moments, but the best (along with seeing Bob) was watching Frank Taormina. Up until then, I'd only known Frank as the Tony Soprano-esque, sunflower-seed-munching dad in the baseball bleachers. But 10 minutes before the doors closed, this man indulged in some power shopping that could put the Kardashian sisters to shame. After his credit card was swiped, Frank stole into the night like Santa Claus, a dozen hot pink Romantiques bags tucked under his arm. Lucky girl, I thought about Frank's wife, Barbie. And lucky Frank, I thought, because really, isn't lingerie the gift that keeps on giving?
