Chialas Are Los Gatos Children's Holidays Parade Grand Marshals

John and son Brian Chiala and daughter Jackie Rose recognized for service to community, support of youth employment, activities.

Los Gatos Meats & Smokehouse owners John and Brian Chiala and daughter Jackie Rose have been named the Los Gatos Children's Christmas and Holidays Parade grand marshals this year.

The two men have run the popular business since the summer of 1991. Now, instead of selling sandwiches and delicious sausages, the Chialas will be waiving their hands and smiling at the thousands who will line up North Santa Cruz and Almendra avenues at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 for 56th annual procession.

The smokehouse, located at 575 University Ave., was also named this past May as Youth Friendly Business of the Year by the Los Gatos Youth Commission and the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce.

A press release issued this past summer by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, which serves as a staff liaison to the Youth Commission, stated the business helps provide employment opportunities for youth.

It also supports Los Gatos High School's sports teams and makes numerous donations to them as well as to nonprofit organizations that are youth oriented.
