Congressional Debate Class for 6-8th Grade Students

starting on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from 9AM to 11AM at 14375 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA

Young Genius, Bay Area Speech and Debate Academy is opening a new Congressional Debate class for 6-8th grade students on Sundays from 9AM to 11AM. First class will be on October 16, 2016.

The main goal of this course is to prepare students to compete in Congressional debate at the Stanford Tournament on February 11-12, 2017 and Santa Clara University Tournament on April 1-2, 2017.

Then starting on April 19, 2017 students will begin preparing to compete in Lincoln Douglas format of debate at the May 2017 Peter Burnett Tournament.

Congressional Debate is an event offered in middle and high school. The goal is to simulate the US Congress and debate bills and resolutions of current interest.

Congressional Debate classes focus on building such necessary skills as: research, persuasive writing and speaking, active listening, critical thinking, accurate and extensive note taking, and cross examination.
