Coronavirus Slams South Bay Kaiser Hospital: Report
Nearly half of Kaiser's San Jose hospital patients are confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Approximately one half of the patients at Kaiser Permanente’s San Jose hospital are confirmed or suspected cases of the new coronavirus according to a Los Angeles Times report.
The report cites comments a Kaiser executive made in an interview with a medical journal.
Kaiser Executive Vice President Dr. Stephen Parodi told the Journal of the American Medical Association “Our San Jose facility in California actually has almost half of the hospital filled either with COVID-confirmed or persons under investigation.

“So we’ve literally had to revamp the hospital to make sure that we’ve got enough capacity from a personnel standpoint. Because to provide the care to these patients requires resource intensive personnel.”
Santa Clara County had 16 COVID-19 deaths and 375 cases as of Tuesday.
