Coroner IDs Woman, 37, Killed In Single-Car Accident On Hwy 85

A 37-year-old woman killed in a solo car crash off of state Highway 85 in San Jose on Thursday was identified today as Morgan Hill resident Misty Hernandez, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Around 11:20 a.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol dispatchers were notified of a vehicle that went off the road on southbound Highway 85 north of Great Oaks Boulevard, CHP officials said.

The vehicle, a green 1999 Ford SUV, went down the side of an embankment and crashed into multiple trees before it came to rest, according to the CHP. The driver, later identified as Hernandez, was found with fatal injuries, CHP officials said.

It appeared the crash occurred hours before it was reported, CHP officials said. Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash and if drugs or alcohol was a factor, CHP officials said.
