County Coroner IDs Man Killed By Amtrak Train
The 55-year-old was struck Tuesday morning near SAP Center.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A man fatally struck by an Amtrak train in San Jose on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 55-year-old Joel Duran, according to a company spokeswoman and the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Coast Starlight train struck the trespasser on the tracks around 10:15 a.m. about 4.7 miles south of the San Jose station near SAP Center, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.
The man, who didn't have a known residence, died in the area of Monterey Road and Southside Drive, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

The train was heading south on a route between Seattle and Los Angeles, Graham said.
The trespasser was killed in the collision on the tracks, where trains are allowed to travel at speeds of up to 79 mph, she said.

None of the 275 passengers and crew members on the train reported any injuries, according to Graham.
The train was delayed by about four hours before it could head to its next stop in Salinas, Graham said.
