Update: Deadly Construction Accident in Santa Clara County
The accident happened just before noon Tuesday. CalOSHA is investigating.

Update:
A man was killed on a construction site in an accident involving heavy construction equipment just south of San Jose this morning, according to a Santa Clara County sheriff’s spokesman.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 11:20 a.m. to a construction site just outside of San Jose city limits near Bruce Way and Almaden Road, where a house is being built.

The San Jose Fire Department responded shortly before deputies arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene, sheriff’s Sgt. James Jensen said.
According to Jensen, the bucket of an excavator struck and killed a man in his mid 20s who had been working in the site. The man’s name is not yet being released.

Officials with the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health also responded to the scene. The sheriff’s office and Cal/OSHA are continuing to investigate the incident.

A construction site accident resulted in a fatality this morning, according to a San Jose fire captain.
The fire department responded at 11:19 a.m. to the construction site at Bruce Way and Almaden Road just outside of San Jose city limits.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health are investigating the incident, according to Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido.
There were no further details immediately available about the fatality.
