Disappearing Driver; Heroic Rescue; Window Smashed: Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Blotter

LOS GATOS, CA — Among 79 reports taken by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department throughout the week of Aug. 28 through Sept. 3, the following were shared by police as noteworthy incidents.

Vehicle Returned To Owner

At 11:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had been abandoned in a parking lot in the 15500 block of Union Avenue in Los Gatos. It was determined that the vehicle had previously been reported stolen to the San Jose Police Department. The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner, police said.

Driver Disappears

At 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 in Los Gatos, officers attempted to conduct an enforcement stop at Blossom Hill Road and Los Gatos Boulevard of a vehicle that had been reported stolen to the San Jose Police Department. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was located unoccupied, police said.

Meth Arrest

At 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 in Los Gatos, officers conducted an enforcement stop of a vehicle on Highway 9 at University Avenue and determined that an occupant of the car, a 44-year-old Santa Cruz woman, had outstanding warrants for her arrest and was on searchable probation. A search yielded methamphetamine, police said; the woman was arrested and booked into the main Santa Clara County jail on her warrants and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Combative Man

At 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, officers located a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos and made contact with its occupant, who was allegedly displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The 38-year-old San Jose man was arrested an taken to the main Santa Clara County jail, where he allegedly became combative during the booking process, according to police.

Heroic Pool Rescue

At 7:09 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 in Monte Sereno, officers responded to the 16000 block of Hillvale, to a medical event during which the caller was having trouble getting a person out of the swimming pool. The first arriving officer jumped into the swimming pool to assist in the collaborative lifesaving efforts of all first responders, police said.

Back To Jail

At 3:13 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Los Gatos, officers conducted an enforcement stop of a vehicle at Highway 17 and Lark Avenue. Officers learned that the occupant, a 54-year-old San Jose man, had recently been jailed on a drug charge and was on searchable probation. The man was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine; he was arrested and booked into the main Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Minors Caught Drinking

At 10:22 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Los Gatos, officers allegedly witnessed a passenger in a vehicle on San Benito at Mariposa avenues consume alcohol and then throw the empty beer can from the car. Officers determined all of the occupants of the vehicle were juveniles and that all except the driver had allegedly been drinking. The male minors were cited and released to their parents, police said.

Suspicious Delivery Driver

At 2:12 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Los Gatos, officers conducted an enforcement stop of a vehicle at Main Street and Santa Cruz Avenue. The vehicle's occupant, a 30-year-old Sunnyvale man, had outstanding warrants for his arrest and although he claimed to be employed by a food delivery service he did not have any food, police said. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed hypodermic syringes and a meth pipe. The purported delivery driver was booked into the main Santa Clara County jail on his warrants and on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Window Smashed In Home Burglary

At 2:29 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 in Los Gatos, a residential burglary in progress was reported in the 100 block of Fairmead Lane. The homeowner reported someone breaking into her home through the back door; officers arrived and found the back door smashed open. Police said follow-up investigation was being conducted.
