Fast Clean-Up: Downed Power Lines, Branch Cleared From Hwy 9
The incident near Redwood Gulch Road was cleared Sunday afternoon ahead of projections.

State Highway 9 in Santa Clara County has reopened after a large tree branch and downed power lines blocked the roadway this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers received a report of the tree branch blocking all lanes of Highway 9 near Redwood Gulch Road shortly before noon, CHP officials said.

The tree branch struck a power line that fell down, according to the CHP. PG&E has been called to the scene to turn off power to the downed line, CHP officials said.
The tree branch was about 24 to 30 inches in diameter and roughly 70 feet long, according to the CHP officials.

A car was also struck but it was not immediately clear if the tree branch or power lines hit the vehicle, CHP officials said.
No injuries were reported. A Sig-alert was issued at 1:26 p.m. and the highway reopened shortly before 2:15 p.m., CHP officials said.
