SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren spent time in San Jose Friday, taking a moment in the afternoon to meet with a local childcare provider and union representatives during her campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Warren, a legislator from Massachusetts, met with Service Employees International Union representatives and Rosa Carreo, a local childcare provider, as part of SEIU's candidate endorsement process.

Sara Lonardo, a spokesperson for the union in Washington, D.C., said via email that SEIU is "asking all candidates to spend time with our members and not-yet-union workers to understand the challenges facing working people."

"[Warrem] assisted Rosa with some of her typical daily tasks such as playing with the children, prepping for lunch, clean up and preparing for nap time," Lonardo said. "Senator Warren also sat down with five other child care providers to discuss a milestone in their 16-year long fight to form a union of providers and negotiate with the state of California for salaries and benefits that enable them to have a decent life and time to live it."
