Ex-49er Dana Stubblefield Gets 15 Years To Life For 2015 Rape:

The former 49ers start used a gun in the 2015 rape of a developmentally disabled woman at his South Bay home.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Former San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield was sentenced to 15-years-to-life in prison Thursday for raping a developmentally disabled woman he lured to his South Bay home with the promise of a babysitting job, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Stubblefield, 49, sexually assaulted the victim in April of 2015 at his Morgan Hill home.

In late July, a jury found Stubblefield guilty of rape by force, oral copulation by force, and false imprisonment.

The jury also found that he used a gun in the assault. Stubblefield was found not guilty of the rape of a person incapable of giving consent and oral copulation of a person incapable of giving consent.

Before the sentencing, Judge Arthur Bocanegra rejected a defense motion for a new trial.

“No meant nothing to this defendant,” prosecutor Tim McInerny said in a statement.

“Based on his status, I think he was never held accountable for prior criminal behavior. Today, he was properly held accountable.”

Deputy District Attorney McInerny said the victim “testified with bravery, poise, and grace and allowed the jury to get a true picture of the man.”

Prosecutors said the 31-year-old victim traveled to Stubblefield’s home after he contacted her through a babysitter website.

After the assault, the victim immediately went to the Morgan Hill Police Department to report the crime.

During the nine-month trial, two other women testified at the trial that they, too, were assaulted by Stubblefield.

Stubblefield was among the NFL's top defensive lineman during his 11-year career. He played for the 49ers for seven seasons and concluded his career with the Oakland Raiders in 2003.

Stubblefield was named the league’s rookie of the year in his first season in 1993, when he helped lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl championship.

Stubblefield was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1997 and was named to three Pro Bowls.
