Ex-South Bay Code Enforcer Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges
William Gerry, 45, is accused of assaulting multiple people and extorting their businesses, according to San Jose police.
SAN JOSE, CA – A former South Bay code enforcement inspector was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual assaults and extortion he allegedly committed while on duty in his official role, police said.

William Gerry, 45, is accused of assaulting multiple people and extorting their businesses, according to San Jose police.
The suspect was worked for the San Jose code enforcement agency from 2007 to 2019, The Mercury News reports.

Investigators learned that Gerry now lives in McKinney, Texas, and served a search warrant at his home.
He surrendered to authorities on Wednesday and was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of sexual assault, extortion and asking for and receiving a bribe, with bail set at $550,000.

More details about his alleged assaults and extortion were not immediately released by police.
