Does your child love animals? Is he or she driving you crazy singing, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm?” Then you should consider making a trip to Deer Hollow Farm in Mountain View, where your child can get a real “Old MacDonald” experience. Located in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, Deer Hollow Farm is a working homestead and educational center. It is one of the last working homestead farms in Silicon Valley and is truly a historic place to visit. The Farm produces food on-site, such as eggs and seasonal produce.

At this fun, local hotspot, your child will experience what happens on a real working farm in addition to learning some Bay Area history. Children can discover how to plant their own beans and even have the opportunity to meet the animals, including lambs, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese and sheep. There are also trained docents stationed in each animal pen ready to explain animal care, why those animals are important for the farm and what life was like  150 years ago when most Americans lived on homesteads like Deer Hollow Farm. They will also learn about the Ohlone Native Americans who lived in the area during that time.
