Felipe Fire Breaks Out In Santa Clara County, Forcing Evacuations
Breaking: Cal Fire says residents within a one-mile perimeter of the brush fire southeast of San Jose were being evacuated.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- Evacuations were ordered Monday evening in an area southeast of San Jose because of a brush fire that has burned 40 acres and has the potential to grow up to 500 acres, according to Cal Fire.
Cal Fire spokeswoman Pam Temmermand said the fire was first reported at 3:56 p.m. and as of 5:45 p.m., evacuations were still under way for residents within a one-mile perimeter around San Felipe and Metcalf roads.
The fire broke out about 8 miles northeast of Morgan Hill, Cal Fire reported on Twitter.

As of 6:15 p.m., firefighters were gaining a bit of control; Cal Fire reported the blaze was 40 acres and 40 percent contained.

The blaze was thought to have been sparked by a vehicle fire, NBC Bay Area reported on Twitter.

Whether that started the brush fire has not been determined, Temmermand said, adding that as of 5:45 p.m., no structures had been damaged, nor any injuries reported.
