LOS GATOS, CA — Former Los Gatos little leaguer Jason Munsch has signed a Major League Baseball contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The left-handed pitcher who played with the Quito Little League in 2011 signed out of Concordia University (Seward, Nebraska) where he was a Division II collegiate standout.

Munsch is believed to be the school’s first player to sign a major league contract since the 1950s, The Lincoln Journal Star reports.

Munsch set career records at Concordia for strikeouts (281) and earned run average (2.81) and holds the school’s single game strikeout record with 20.

He had a sensational COVID-19 shortened senior year in which he struck out 59 in 26 innings in four starts, allowing just one unearned run over that stretch.

The former Eagle Scout signed with the Brewers in mid-June after an abbreviated amateur draft due to the coronavirus crisis and is reported to the rookie-level Arizona League Brewers Gold team, The San Jose Mercury News reports.
