Half Of Facebook's Workforce Could Soon WFH For Good: Report
But the Facebook chief executive said those working remotely who move to locations with lower costs of living would see salary cuts.
MENLO PARK, CA — Mark Zuckerberg just clicked on the like button on working remotely.
The Facebook Chief Executive said that within five to 10 years half of the Menlo Park-based social media giant workforce of approximately 45,000 could be working from home permanently, The San Jose Mercury News reports.
“I think were going to be the most forward leaning company on remote work, on our scale,” Zuckerberg said in a livestream that’s usually exclusively available to employees according to The Mercury News report. “It’s really important for us to take a long term approach to how we think about remote work.”

Zuckerberg touted a company survey in which 50% of respondents say they’re more productive working remotely and 75% said they’d consider moving should they have the option of working from home, the report said.
Zuckerberg said employees who left the Bay Area for locations with lower costs of living under such a scenario would see salary cuts.

Zuckerberg’s comments follow recent announcement by other Silicon Valley companies saying they’ll give employees the option to work from home on a permanent basis.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey earlier this month said his company’s employees can work from home forever.
