If you’re looking for a place to take the kids that will also put a spring in your step, consider going to Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve. Just off of I-280 in Santa Clara County you’ll find this oasis from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Picchetti Ranch, pronounced Piketti, is 308 acres of beautiful landscape and 3.7 miles of hiking trails. It is also the home of the historic Picchetti Winery and surrounding homestead, which was build in the 1890s.
Autumn is a particularly pretty time of year to go to Picchetti Ranch with your kids because the leaves on the trees are turning colors and falling. Your kids will also enjoy seeing the winery’s collection of peacocks, which roam free around the property. This a great escape for some leisurely hiking with the kids since most trails at Picchetti Ranch are under a mile in length.
