JCC Announces South Bay Teen Idol Auditions 2017

Auditions are January 16th-22nd at the JCC in Los Gatos, for singers in 8th-12th grades.

One of the most exciting and entertaining teenage vocal competitions is back. The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley (JCC) presents its 5th Annual SOUTH BAY TEEN IDOL. This American Idol style singing competition will highlight the most gifted teenage vocalists in the South Bay.

Video auditions are January 16th -20th from 3:00-7:00pm each evening at the JCC, and live auditions are Sunday, January 22nd from 10:00am-2:00pm at the JCC. Prospective contestants are asked to choose either a video audition OR a live audition (not both). Advance registration is required for a video audition. Live auditions are first come, first served.

Based on the auditions, 20 teens will be selected to advance to the Semi-finals on Saturday, March 4th. Ten contestants will be chosen to go on to compete for the title of SOUTH BAY TEEN IDOL on Saturday, April 1st in a professionally choreographed show.

Along the way, all the semi-finalists and finalists rehearse with professional vocal coaches and choreographers while enjoying the chance to bond with their fellow program participants, teens who share similar interests.

Who is eligible to compete: 8th-12th grade students residing in Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County, San Mateo County, or Alameda County with a valid identification card (e.g. student ID, valid driver’s license), are age 13 years or older, and have a minimum 2.0 GPA are eligible to compete. Teens must be prepared to sing a song of their choice, a cappella. There is a $20 entry fee.

The grand prize winner will take home $2500 from the Finals on April 2nd and the grand prize winner’s school will receive $500 for its Music Department. Prizes will be awarded to 2nd and 3rd place winners as well. Seating is limited to 400 people for both the semi-finals and finals. Audition registration forms are available at www.apjcc.org/idol. Auditions will be held at the JCC in Los Gatos.
