LOS GATOS, CA — The town of Los Gatos is making a push to get residents to step up their mask-wearing game.

Town officials are launching a signage campaign that includes a reminder that those caught flouting state law and the admonition of health experts that will face financial consequences.

The “Masks Required” signs includes a warning that violators face fines up to $1,000.

“They serve as a good reminder for all of us to come together and protect our community from the spread of COVID-19 by following the State and County face covering rules,” town officials wrote on Twitter.

Facial coverings are required whenever six feet of social distance from those outside their household can’t be maintained.

“This requirement makes it virtually impossible to walk on any sidewalk downtown without having a mask on,” town officials said.
