Los Gatos Legends One Win Away From World Series Championship

Team wins three straight games in Colt League World Series Division of Pony baseball, to play in semi-final round against Lafayette, IN.

The Los Gatos Legends in the Colt League World Series Division of Pony baseball will be squaring off against the Colt team of Lafayette, IN tonight in the semi-final round with the winner moving on to compete in the finals Thursday at 6 p.m. EST.

The team, which is made up of 15- and 16-year-olds, defeated Germany 17-11 on Sunday and continued the hot streak Tuesday by defeating a team from Steger, IL by a score of 11-1 at Burt E. Loeb Stadium in Lafayette. They also defeated the Levittown, Puerto Rico team on Saturday by a 5-2 score.

If they win, the Legends will go on to face the other semi-final matchup between the Pony baseball teams from Levittown, Puerto Rico and Greensboro, NC.

Other teams in the tournament come from Greensboro, NC; Laredo, TX, Germany, Steger, IL; and Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico.

The World Series final game will be played Thursday night at 6 p.m. EST.

"They know they're on the brink of something very special. They've worked pretty hard and have played a lot of good teams to get to this point," said coach Kris Hesenflow. "They've come together really well, playing as one group and not 15 individuals.'

Hesenflow said expected attendance for tonight's game is 3,000. "The whole town of Lafayette is showing up tonight. It's going to be exciting. We'll have our hands full. We'll be playing a very talented team."
