LG Lions Club Continues ‘Date Night’ Fundraiser Amid Pandemic

LOS GATOS, CA — Date Night may have been canceled this year, but the fundraising effort behind this annual Los Gatos event is marching on with ambitious goals.

The Lions Club had to cancel Date Night due to the coronavirus crisis but is asking for the public’s help in support of mental health services for students at local schools.

The Los Gatos Lions Charities announced on Facebook it will match donations up to an aggregate of $10,000.

“We are, as you can imagine, disappointed that this year’s Date Night event had to be cancelled in lieu of the pandemic but hopeful that 2021’s Date Night will be on-schedule,” the club’s statement said.

The club said Date Night supports CASSY (Counseling and Support Services for Youth) at Los Gatos High School and RJ Fisher Middle School and supported a three-tiered mental health initiative at CT English Middle School.

“Date Night has been blessed to have the support from our local restaurants, wineries, breweries, generous sponsors, an army of Lions volunteers and You, our guests,” the club’s statement said.

“It is our hope that, via this email drive, we can provide these schools partial support this year. Something is better than nothing, right?!”
