Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Blotter: Drivers Hit Trees, Bridge; Stolen Antique; RV Mess; Dangerous Devices

LOS GATOS, CA — The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department took 72 reports the week of Sept. 11 through Sept. 17, and 48 reports Sept. 18 through Sept. 24. Here is a police blotter composed of significant incidents shared by the department.

Trunk Burglars

7:50 a.m., Monday, Sept. 11: Officers responded to an auto burglary in the 14600 block of Winchester Boulevard to find that unknown suspects broke the driver's side window to open the trunk and steal several personal items.

DUI Arrest

1:39 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at Shannon Road and E. La Chiquita Avenue and determined the driver exhibited the objective signs of alcohol intoxication. The 22-year-Los Gatos woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.

DUI Driver Collides With Trees

2:44 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14: Officers responded to a report of an impaired driver who had struck two trees in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Pollard Road. Upon their arrival, officers determined the driver, a 31-year-old Los Gatos woman, exhibited the objectives signs of alcohol intoxication. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.

Drug, Meth Possession

12:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15: Officers conducted an enforcement stop at Winchester Boulevard and Shelburne Way during which the driver became uncooperative and confrontational. He fled from the officers on foot and was located hiding on University Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident. The 41-year-old Anaheim resident was found to be in possession of a loaded .40-caliber weapon.

After receiving medical treatment, he was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence. He was transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.

DUI Driveway Crash

12:46 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16: Officers responded to the 100 block of Hilow Court regarding a report of a vehicle crashing into another vehicle that was parked in a driveway. Upon their arrival, officers determined the driver, a 22-year-old Los Gatos man, exhibited the objective signs of alcohol intoxication. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.

DUI Bridge Crash

3:17 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17: Officers initiated a traffic enforcement stop at Blossom Hill Road and Camino del Cerro, during which the vehicle was driven into the wooden foot bridge at the end of Camino del Cerro. The driver, a 21-year-old San Jose man, exhibited the objective signs of alcohol intoxication. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.

Dangerous Devices

11:18 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17: Officers located a suspicious vehicle at La Rinconada Park and observed a box of mortars in plain view. The items were confiscated and will be destroyed.

Stolen Antique Recovered

1:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18: Officers responded to the 500 block of N. Santa Cruz Avenue regarding a report of a theft of a planter with high sentimental value. The owner had come into possession of the item in the 1950s. A partial license plate of the suspect vehicle was provided and further investigation led to the recovery of the item in the city of San Jose.

RV Mess

1:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23: Officers responded to a disabled vehicle at Blossom Hill Road and Union Avenue. A motorhome's drive shaft had broken as the vehicle traveled uphill. The vehicle rolled backward, blocking the lanes of traffic. The roadway was cleared at approximately 3:45 a.m.

Parolee Drunk In Public

8:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23: Officers responded to a disturbance at S. Santa Cruz Avenue and Wood Road and determined that an involved subject was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was also found to be in violation of his parole. The 64-year-old man, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and transported to the main Santa Clara County jail.
