Los Gatos Police To Hold Meeting On Use Of Military Equipment

Under Assembly Bill 481, law enforcement agencies must be more transparent and adopt regulations for military-level equipment.

LOS GATOS, CA — The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department will hold a community meeting next Tuesday to discuss Assembly Bill 481, a bill passed last year in California that would require law enforcement agencies to be more transparent and adopt regulations for military-level equipment.

AB 481 was part of seven police reform bills signed into law last fall by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The police department’s meeting next Tuesday is required under the law. The department will discuss the purpose of the legislation, the definition of military equipment and the department’s current military equipment inventory.
