Los Gatos Vasona Park's Picnic Areas Get Upgrades

Just in time for spring, summer and warm outdoor barbecue weather ... two reservable picnic areas at Vasona Lake County Park have received upgrades.

The areas, known as Meadowbrook and Creekside, now each feature new picnic tables under nice open structures that will provide some shade to visitors and larger capacity barbecue pits.

The Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department, which is headquartered in Los Gatos, was responsible for the installation of two new serving tables and four larger-capacity barbecue pits in the Meadowbrook area.

The department also resurfaced some picnic tables and added more material , known as decomposed granite, on the ground for visitor safety, said Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Tamara Clark.

The new areas are next to the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad station.
