Los Gatos Woman Killed In I-280 Crash Is Identified

A woman who was killed Monday morning when her car flipped over the center divider of Interstate Highway 280 near Palo Alto was identified.

PALO ALTO - A woman who was killed Monday morning when her car flipped over the center divider of Interstate Highway 280 near Palo Alto was identified Tuesday as 47-year-old Los Gatos resident Gina Whitson, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

The crash was reported just after 9 a.m. on Highway 280 south of Page Mill Road.

Whitson was driving a black Hyundai Sonata north when she crashed into the cement center divider, sending the car flipping over the wall and landing on its roof between the northbound and southbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Other drivers stopped and pulled Whitson out of the wrecked Hyundai, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
