Los Gatos Woman Suspected Of DUI, Hit-And-Run Of Motorcyclist: CHP

BREAKING: The 39-year-old allegedly crashed into a motorcyclist on Highway 85 at Highway 17, but then fled the scene, CHP officials said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A Los Gatos woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence after she allegedly crashed her vehicle into a motorcycle and then fled the scene, California Highway Patrol officials said. At 2:55 p.m., 39-year-old Laura Elizabeth Starr of Los Gatos was driving south on state Highway 85 onto southbound state Highway 17. That's when the front of her vehicle collided with the rear of a motorcycle, CHP officials said.

The collision caused the solo motorcycle rider to lose control and get ejected from the vehicle. The male motorcyclist suffered major injuries to his arm, CHP officials said.

Starr stopped briefly, but then fled the scene toward her home in Los Gatos, CHP officials said.

According to the CHP, while she was driving home, Starr was allegedly involved in two other non-injury hit-and-run collisions in Los Gatos.

At about 4 p.m., CHP officials and Los Gatos police officers arrived at Starr's home on Teresita Way and contacted her outside of her vehicle. She was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on
suspicion of driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run causing injuries, CHP officials said.

Starr's bail was set at $60,000.

According to the CHP, three days before her arrest, Starr was arrested by CHP officers in San Jose on suspicion of DUI resulting in a traffic collision.
