Man Arrested In East San Jose Murder Investigation

A man who died from apparent blunt force injuries in East San Jose last week has been identified.

SAN JOSE - A man who died from apparent blunt force injuries in East San Jose last week has been identified as 66-year-old Phong "Peter" Nguyen, police said Tuesday.

Audry Wayne Law, 60, has been arrested in connection with Nguyen's death, police said.

Nguyen was found in the 1700 block of Ocala Avenue, where officers responded around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a possible dead body, police said.

When officers reached the scene they found a man, later identified as Nguyen, whose injuries appeared to stem from blunt force trauma, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after officers arrived, police said.

Detectives identified Law as a suspect and learned he knew the victim, according to police. Law was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, where he is being held without bail, police said.

The death marks the city's 26th homicide this year, according to police.
